HEINER LAMMERS

Colour Art

of Heiner Lammers

With pleasure Heiner Lammers calls his abstract painting also Coincidence Art. In the process he prefers an approach in which he sees himself in the role of the assistent, the impulse giver and, in the end, also of the director of chance.

By applying his techniques each picture is open to any result. Thus, pictures are created that elicid a range of emotions from the viewer.

Heiner Lammers´ development from concrete to abstract painting, is based on similar reasons many other painters had before.

For example, Franz Marc painted animals as a symbol of the cleanless, for other painters it was the invention of the photography subsequently precluded them from recognising  the sense of the concrete painting etc..

Heiner Lammers felt more and more that concrete painting was not lively and emotional enough. The colours, the colour combinations, the structures and the contents are determined by the subject. Also, the finished image is already known from the beginning. Thus, when painting there were hardly any surprises.

Heiner Lammers had begun to paint abstract pictures, the situation changed. Since his first picture he could hardly wait for the next day to paint and experience something new.

The conception of a painter of the informel gave him substantial impetus. However, its influence on the picture does not yet meet his ideal vision.

The thought, at his work to hand over a dominant role to the chance has fascinated him from the start and comes close to his ideal already very much.

Painting means for him in consequence, "to take yourself back". In contrast to the daily crowned "celebrities", who conquer screens and front pages without proven qualities, at the present time Lammers finds the "SelfTake Back" approach increasingly important.

It means when following his own dictation that all colours do have the same chance of being used in the painting. Heiner Lammers´preferred colours will not given any preference. This attitude alone holds high tensions in itself and promotes intellectual curiosity. The constant search for new lets Heiner Lammers try out new techniques, new tools find (some are self-made) and use new materials. In addition, Lammers studies the behaviour of the colour (e.g., different consistency) under many different processing possibilities. Thus, Heiner Lammers  never degrades the painting to routine work. Variability is the focus of his work. This work with the unknown makes his emotions swing between disappointment and elation. The painter Heiner Lammers aligns his artistic work to a sentence of Benedikt the 16th. After being chosen as pope he had sad: "I am only an easy worker in the vineyards of man". At his artistic activity Heiner Lammers wants to take on such a role in regards to chance.

Therefore, in the pictures of Lammers mostly no personal statements are to be found. If Lammers has to say something, he express his statements through polyptychs.

For the painters of the informel the process of the painting was of utmost importance,  probably even more important than the result itself. Heiner Lammers enjoys the development of a picture in  every phase, however,  the finished picture is most important to him. Nevertheless, he always avoids the expression "finished picture", because a picture should still have riddles  (could, should the painter still have kept on working?) or secrets. This state of the finished picture with its colours, structures and  compositional creations should arouse emotions of every kind in the viewer of his pictures.
